Canadians Care Partnership Ministries was co-founded and is operated by Rev. Robert and Rev. Hilary Merritt. They have both worked in Ministry with the United Church of Canada for more than 30 years. The Merritt’s have extensive knowledge of partnership visits and have visited more than 35 countries!

Rev. Robert Merritt has been a United Church minister since his ordination in 1988. In 2018 he retired from St. Andrew’s United Church in Cumberland. Having a passion for developing affordable housing, he has been the President of the Odessa Non-Profit Housing Corporation developing 48 housing units, worked with Heartwood Place providing geared to income apartments and with Habitat for Humanity as a fundraiser, worker volunteer, and family advisor. He, with his wife Hilary, has built homes in the Dominican Republic through The Samaritan Foundation.

Rev. Hilary Merritt has been an United Church minister since her ordination in 1982. In 2019 she retired from ministry with Youth and Young Adults in the Ottawa Presbytery. Hilary has an enthusiasm for partnership ministries which has taken her to Zambia, Trinidad, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and New Orleans. She has also facilitated youth partnership exchanges between indigenous and non-indigenous youth in a variety of southern Ontario communities and those in the Yukon and Northwest Territories, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia including Haida Gwaii, B.C. As with Robert, she has house building experiences with Habitat for Humanity and The Samaritan Foundation.
